Applying to Colleges: Tips for Seniors and their Families - February 2010
- Remember: each school will have its own application process.
- Financial Aid offices often have an application deadline separate from the Admission Office so pay careful attention to dates!
- Begin assembling documentation needed for the FAFSA form. A complete list of recommended documents can be found at www.fafsa.org
- BOTH the student and a parent should register for a PIN through the FAFSA site. This number will eventually serve as your electronic signature. Apply now while it is still early in the financial aid process.
- Have patience as you wait for those college admissions decisions. Just as you and your student worked so hard to juggle the applications and send them in, it is now time for our Admissions Officers to carefully review all of the important information you sent them. Give them time!
- If a college has asked for information (ex. test scores, grades, etc.), contact them first to find out specifically what they need. Sometimes the 'request for more information' letter goes out the same day your materials actually get registered into your application file.
- When in doubt, please see Ms. Cross-Baker.
