LPHS GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS 2012 - 2013
To graduate, LPHS students must successfully complete all required subjects and pass the required exams.
REQUIRED SUBJECTS for LPHS students include: (minimum requirements)

DIPLOMA TYPES
For most LPHS diploma types, these required credits remain the same. However, they do differ by the Exam Requirements as well as an individual student's record of course and exam completion.
Individual Education Plan (IEP)
Developed in partnership with the Committee on Special Education in order to meet an individual student's learning needs and to complement their abilities.
Local Diploma
While the Course Credit Requirements remain the same, this diploma is awarded to students who earn passing scores on a combination of Regents and Regents Competency Tests in the required subjects.
NYS Regents Diploma
This is the most common diploma awarded by LPHS and includes the course credit requirements noted above. Additionally, students must successfully complete the following required exams:
- Comprehensive English Regents Exam
- Mathematics Regents Exam in Integrated Algebra, Geometry, OR Algebra 2/Trigonometry (ONE minimum)
- Global History and Geography Regents Exam
- United States History and Government Regents Exam
- Science Regents Exam in Earth Science, Living Environment, Chemistry, OR Physics (ONE minimum)
NYS Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation
This is the most rigorous diploma type available at LPHS. In addition to the required course credits noted above, students seeking this diploma must successfully complete the following related Regents Exams:
- Comprehensive English Regents Exam
- Mathematics Regents Exam in Integrated Algebra, Geometry, AND Algebra 2/Trigonometry (MUST pass all 3 exams)
- Global History and Geography Regents Exam
- United States History and Government Regents Exam
- Living Environment Regents Exam
- TWO of the following exams: Earth Science, Chemistry, OR Physics
Additionally, the Advanced Designation diploma also requires successful completion of one of the following sequences:
- 3 years of a foreign language and the related comprehensive exam OR
- 5 units of credit in Occupational Education OR
- 5 units of credit in the Arts
Graduating with Honors
A Regents Diploma or a Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation may be issued "With Honors" if the student has earned an average of at least 90% on the Regents examinations required for that diploma type.
