LPHS Graduation Requirements
Important Notes about the LPHS Promotion Requirements
Promotion to a new grade level requires that a student complete a minimum number of credits overall as well as specific individual courses as outlined below. (These are also found on page 14 of the 2011-2012 student handbook.)
The minimum passing grade for a class at LPHS is 65%.
Requirements to be promoted to Grade 10 / Sophomore status
- Successfully complete a minimum of five (5) credits and
- Successful completion of Global Studies 9 course and
- Successful completion of English 9 course
Requirements to be promoted to Grade 11 / Junior status
- Successfully complete a minimum of eleven (11) credits overall and
- All requirements to meet Sophomore status and
- Successful completion of Global Studies 10 course and
- Successful completion of English 10 course and
- Successful completion of at least one Physical Education class and
- Successful completion of at least one Math class and
- Successful completion of at least one Science class
Requirements to be promoted to Grade 12 / Senior status
- Successfully complete a minimum of fifteen (15) credits and
- All requirements to meet Sophomore and Junior status and
- Successful completion of United States History course and
- Successful completion of English 11 course and
- Successful completion of at least two Physical Education classes and
- Successful completion of at least two Math classes and
- Successful completion of at least two Science classes
If a student does not meet all of the specified criteria to be promoted to the next grade level, then s/he will likely repeat the same grade level in 2012 – 2013.
This will also change the student’s eligibility for graduation as well as other class-related assignments including locker placement, lunch period, yearbook entry and more.
A student’s grade level assignment for the 2012 – 2013 school year will be decided in late August 2012 after the completion of summer school and another review of student records.
Any exceptions to these guidelines must be approved in advance by the Principal and/or Superintendent.
