Keep coming up with fundraising ideas.  Remember, the more money you raise, the more money a senior can earn for their scholarship in the spring.

Lambda Pi

We will be having an organizational meeting soon. Keep listening to morning announcements and check back here often. Past members and students interested in becoming members should attend.

About Us

Lambda Pi is the Lake Placid chapter of the New York State Mathematics Honor Society.

Lambda Pi members are expected to uphold the highest qualities of Scholarship, Service, Leadership, and Character.

Scholarship:   Members must be enrolled in an appropriate math class, must maintain an 85% average (minimum)  in math class(es),  and must maintain an overall scholastic average of 85%.

Service:  We strive to be a strong service organization.  Service is as important to ΛΠ as is excellence in mathematics.

·Members are expected to complete 10 hours of mathematics tutoring (grades 6+)  this year.

·In addition to tutoring, we try to do one community service activity each month.  Members are expected to actively participate in at least 3 service activities (in addition to tutoring).  Per the new extra-curricular contract, if you participate in inappropriate conduct, you will be required to participate in 2 extra community service activities per year, per offense.

Leadership/CharacterThese are more difficult to define, but extremely important in an honor society.  Leadership applies to the classroom as well as school activities.  For example, a leader is thoroughly dependable in any responsibility accepted, successfully holds school offices or positions of responsibility, exemplifies a positive attitude, and exercises positive influence in upholding school ideals.  A person of character demonstrates respect, responsibility, trustworthiness, fairness, caring, and citizenship.  For example, a person of good character takes criticism willingly and accepts recommendations graciously, upholds principles of morality and ethics, regularly shows courtesy, concern, and respect for others, and demonstrates the highest standards of honesty and reliability.

· Bad Leadership/Character qualities include:  Cheating, stealing, lying, partying, skipping school, poor sportsmanship, etc

· OSS = cannot participate in ΛΠ activities & meeting with advisors.

· Other consequences per extra-curricular contract & advisor/administrator discretion.
