Welcome to Ms. Rogers' Homepage

Hello!  My name is Alice Rogers, and I am in my third year at Lake Placid Middle/High School as Director of Instrumental Music.

I grew up in Southwick, Massachusetts, a small town in the western part of the state.  I am a recent graduate of the School of Music at Ithaca College where I was a piano major with concentrations in trombone and music education.  During the course of my studies, I was an active performer in orchestras, bands, and chamber groups, and completed my student teaching in the schools of Groton and Trumansburg, New York.  Since I have been in the North Country, I have had an opportunity to perform trombone in local music theatre productions, community concerts, and with the Northern Symphonic Winds, Adirondack Wind Ensemble and High Peaks Brass Quintet.

I feel very strongly about the importance of the music program at Lake Placid.  I believe that a music education is part of comprehensive education, as well as an intellectual and emotional realization of human expression.  Music is an academic discipline that stands by its own merit as a broad and complex subject, as intellectually challenging as any subject in the school curriculum.  Everyone can participate and benefit from the knowledge and skill development, social interactions, and the aesthetic appreciation of this exceptional art form.

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions that you might have.  We have great things ahead of us, and I am looking forward to a wonderful year of music-making!
