Important to Know
- Step 1: Visit www.collegeboard.com and create your own account – Use this to register for exams, get testing advice, exam scores, and more!
- Consider taking SAT Subject exams when you complete a related course – and this could be as early as grade 9 or 10. Most LPHS begin taking the SAT Reasoning Test in grade 11.
- SATs are typically Saturday exams held at area high schools including Northwood, Saranac Lake, and Plattsburgh.
- On any test date, a student may take either the SAT Reasoning Test (Critical Reading + Writing + Mathematics) OR up to three separate subject exams.
- More than 60% of LPHS graduates take the SAT at least once (Classes of 2010 and 2011)
- Lake Placid High School CEEB code is 332 755 – include this in all test registrations to ensure we receive a copy of your score report.
- More elite and Ivy League schools will expect at least 3 SAT Subject Test scores in your admissions materials.
- SAT Subject scores are used in the admissions process. Advanced Placement (AP) scores, however, are used most often to determine eligibility for earning college credit in a subject.
- SAT and SAT Subject Exams may be taken more than once. All scores are included on a LPHS transcript (unless a student is submitting a Test-Optional college application).
- Testing accommodations at school do NOT automatically apply to SAT exams. These must be requested at least 7 weeks before your intended test dates. See the Guidance Office now for more information.
